INGREDIENTS:
Cleaner Hamburger Helper
Serves 4
1 lb lean turkey or beef
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 1/5 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup milk of choice (I use oat milk)
1/2 cup cottage cheese
1/2 cup cheddar cheese (or plant based cheese)
4 servings of chickpea or high fiber pasta of choice OR substitute w/zucchini noodles
DIRECTIONS:
1. Boil pasta according to package directions.
2. Brown meat; then add spices & Dijon mustard. Stir to combine.
3. Then add milk, cottage cheese, & cheddar cheese. Cook until bubbling thick.
4. Drain pasta & add sauce on top of pasta of choice.
• Add more cottage cheese and/or cheese to make the sauce thicker. You can also make a slurry w/cornstarch to thicken as well.
• Add more milk to make the sauce thinner.
• This sauce base is really so versatile! You can add it over zoodles (zucchini noodles) , spaghetti squash, sautéed zucchini & squash, palimini noodles, etc—-esp if you’re going for lower carb.
